Beginners courses are held frequently to teach new members the basics of Bonsai. Intermediate and advanced courses are held for the more experienced members to teach them advanced techniques that are used by Masters across the globe.
Course Dates:

20 September: Advanced course for Bonsai Techniques.

18 Oktober: Beginnerskursus.

15 November: Advanced Course covering Designing and Sketching of a tree.

Beginners Course Information

The aim of the course is to give you a basic background as well as hands on regarding the art of bonsai.

THE COURSE WILL INCLUDE:

1. Basic concepts on structuring and styling

2. Techniques on pruning, wiring and repotting

3. Daily care which includes watering, pests and insect controlling, applying of fertilisers, etc

Cost:

R200 pp [R150 for scholars]   Light lunch, tea/coffee included.

What to bring:

Garden pruning shears, wire cutter, various gauges of aluminium or copper wire, ladies used silk stockings or raffia to protect the bark from wire cutting. Should you have your own trees to work on, you are more than welcome to bring them with.

However to leave with at least one “good looking bonsai”, you are kindly requested to bring one of the following Juniper species with on which you will learn some of the bonsai techniques. [Juniperus procumbens; Juniperus x-media “Blaauw”; Juniperus chinensis”Grey owl”; or Juniperus chinensis “gold coast”.

You will also receive a beginner’s booklet with all the details of the course. This will guide you through the very first steps of your future bonsai career.

Soil mixes will be available for free.
