January 2007 Dig
On a dig we will look for suitable trees in the bush, once a
tree has been found we wil discuss the tree to see if it is
suitable for Bonsai.
If the tree
is suitable for Bonsai we will start by removing unnecessary
branches.
If all the unnecessary
branches have been removed one can
start with the hard work of digging the tree carefully out of the
ground. Once the tree is out of the ground, put it in a strong
plastic bag and water the tree very well.
At home the tree is kept in a container with a sollution of
disprin water, it is kept in the water for 2 days before it is
planted in a container. Keep the tree in a shady area for a
couple of weeks.

Monthly club meeting
At the monthly meeting there is always a workshop for problem
trees. Here is some of our members working on their bonsai
trees.
At the meeting in January the club had a demonstration on
Saikei, we had two ladies each giving a demonstration.
At every club meeting there is a wide range of Bonsai tools,
pots and accesories for sale.
Some of the club members brought their lanscapes to the
meeting for discussion.
After the demonstration there is a tea break, during the
break every body is welcome to take a closer look and ask
questions.
